I create figurative sculptures—screaming heads—that embody my visceral reactions to the cruelty and injustices people inflict upon one another. My passion for sculpture began in childhood ceramics classes and has only deepened over time, driven by the challenge of capturing raw emotion in clay and fueled by viewers' reactions to my work.
My current body of work is shaped by the frustrations I feel in response to global, national, and local conflicts, with a particular focus on issues affecting women. What each piece expresses depends on the headline of the day—an endless source of inspiration for fleeting moments of outrage captured in clay.
Despite the weighty issues on my mind, I often find myself smiling as I model the features of my sculptures and watch their expressions emerge. When the sculpture is complete, I value the reactions it evokes—whether a smile, a scream, or a comment—as a continuation of the dialogue that began between the clay and me.
